8 Days Machame Route

As you arrive at the airport today, one of our friendly and knowledgeable driver guides will be ready and waiting to escort you to your hotel in Arusha. Along the way, they will share insights about Tanzania’s culture, history, and traditions. Our drivers are not just drivers, but also knowledgeable locals who are passionate about sharing their heritage with visitors.

 

Upon your arrival at your hotel, you will be greeted by one of our travel consultants who will brief you on the exciting safari that lies ahead. They will provide you with all the necessary information you need to make the most out of your trip, including valuable tips on what to pack, what to expect on your Kilimanjaro Climbing adventure and more. Our team is committed to making your experience seamless and unforgettable.

After meeting at the hotel, drive to Machame Gate with your climbing group. At the mountain’s southern foot, you may find the Machame gate. Your guide will assist with all registration procedures upon arriving at the park gate while the porters organize the luggage. Following the receipt of our admission permit, our Kilimanjaro journey gets underway. As we travel through the rain forest, we can spot some of Kilimanjaro’s indigenous plants, including the elephant trunk or the impatiens kilimanjari. Additionally, junipers, sycamore trees, tree ferns, and moss are seen. To refuel for the final hours of hiking to our first camp for the day, we will stop for lunch halfway. At the campsite, we’ll supply you with hot water for washing. Enjoy your first meal with us on the mountain.

Take pleasure in your first meal on Kilimanjaro! Given that the path is hilly today, you should eat a substantial breakfast. Soon after breakfast, we break camp and traverse the Shira Plateau’s rugged ridge. Shira Peak and Shira Plateau are visible to us in a beautiful view. Before ascending the final, arduous ridge leading to the camp, we will eat our picnic lunch. As we complete the final steep section of the day, we can see our campground for the night. Your waiter will bring hot water for washing once we get to the campsite. We leave the camp for a brief trek to Shira cave following the tea/coffee break, then climb higher to acclimatize. After a fantastic dinner, we head back to the campsite to spend the night.
We check out Shira to Baranco Camp after a heavy breakfast. We will arrive at the junction connecting the climbers from the other side of the Lemosho route. We head to Lava Tower 4600 amsl, the highest point for today. After a hot lunch at the lava tower, descend to Barranco camp for dinner and overnight.
Today we climb the Barranco wall. We begin our climb by crossing the river. The trail is very narrow and steep, expect traffic. Cross a famous part of the Barranco Wall, where you hug and kiss Rock to step on the other side. The walking poles are not necessary in this section. Your professional guides are always there to assist you. Within an hour, arrive at the top of the Barranco wall for fantastic photos.
The next camp is not far, and the trail is less steep today. We will arrive at Barafu camp earlier for a hot lunch so that you spend the rest hours of the day relaxing. Unlike other days, expect an earlier dinner. Get yourself enough resting time to energize for a summit night.
Today is a great day! a day that you have been waiting for so long. You will wake up around 11 pm to prepare for the summit. After a light breakfast, we start our summit adventure around midnight. Your head guide will lead the way. He will set a good pace that will make you comfortable. Make sure you listen and follow the advice of your professional guides to reach Uhuru Peak safely and comfortably.
After our last breakfast on the mountain, we leave Mweka Camp, descending about 3 hours to Mweka Gate. On arrival at the gate, we check out, collect certificates and drive back to your hotel in Arusha for a shower and celebrations.
