7 Days Marangu Route

Day 1: Airport Pick Up and Hotel Drop off

As you arrive at the airport today, one of our friendly and knowledgeable driver guides will be ready and waiting to escort you to your hotel in Arusha. Along the way, they will share insights about Tanzania’s culture, history, and traditions. Our drivers are not just drivers, but also knowledgeable locals who are passionate about sharing their heritage with visitors.

Upon your arrival at your hotel, you will be greeted by one of our travel consultants who will brief you on the exciting safari that lies ahead. They will provide you with all the necessary information you need to make the most out of your trip, including valuable tips on what to pack, what to expect on your Kilimanjaro adventure and more. Our team is committed to making your experience seamless and unforgettable.

Day 2: Depart Arusha to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Once you’ve met your crew, drive to Marangu gate. The administrative center for Kilimanjaro National Park is Marangu. Before you have lunch, your guide will assist you with all registration requirements upon arrival at the park gate. Soon after receiving confirmation that your permit has been approved, begin your Kilimanjaro ascent by strolling through a rainforest where you can witness several bird species and Black and White Colobus Monkeys. We will reach Mandara Camp, where we will spend our first night on the mountain, after 3 hours of hiking. Before going to the mess for your first dinner on Kilimanjaro, we’ll provide you access to hot water for washing up. Mahundi Crater is accessible by short hike if time and the weather allow.

Day 3: Leave Mandara Hut for Horombo Hut

After the morning call, you will get water for washing. Organize your bags before going to the mess for your first breakfast on Kilimanjaro. After breakfast, start your hiking through the open moorland. If the weather is clear today, you can see the first view of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Among the attractions to see on your way include Lobelia Deckenii and Senecio Kilimanjari. After a short break at the camp, we can take a short walk to Zebra Rocks before dinner.

Day 4: Full day relaxation at Horombo Hut

After breakfast, we will take a short walk to Zebra Rocks.
Enjoying the beautiful view, return to Horombo Hut for lunch. After lunch, spend the whole day at Horombo Hut. Dinner and overnight

Day 5: Horombo to Kibo

After your heavy breakfast, check out Horombo to the base camp. Today we hike through the moorland and the alpine desert. After a while, we will get to the saddle area between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. We get our picnic lunch there before heading to Kibo Hut for dinner. Unlike other days, expect an earlier dinner today to get enough time to sleep due to a long night’s walk to the summit.

Day 6: Depart Kibo to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Today is a great day, a day that you have been waiting for so long. You will wake up around 11 pm to prepare for the summit. After a light breakfast, we start our summit adventure around midnight. Your head guide will lead the way. He will set a good pace that will make you comfortable.

Day 7: Horombo Hut to Arusha Town

Today you wake in the morning for the last breakfast on the mountain. Enjoy dancing and Kilimanjaro songs with your mountain crew before we depart. It will take us 5 to 6 hours to arrive at Marangu gate. On arrival at the gate, we will check out, collect your certificates and have lunch before we drive back to Arusha Town.
