Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
- Arrival in Arusha: You’ll arrive in Arusha, a vibrant city located at the foothills of Mount Meru, often referred to as the safari capital of Tanzania.
- Transfer to Accommodation: Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your safari guide and transferred to your accommodation, where you can settle in and prepare for your adventure.
- Safari Briefing: Your guide will provide a comprehensive briefing on the itinerary, safety procedures, and what to expect during the safari.
- Optional Activities: Depending on your arrival time, you may have the option to explore Arusha or participate in optional activities such as visiting local markets or cultural excursions.
- Overnight Stay: You’ll spend the night at a hotel or lodge in Arusha, resting up for the start of your safari journey.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
- Early Departure: After an early breakfast, you’ll depart from Arusha and head towards Tarangire National Park, located approximately 2-3 hours away.
- Game Drive: Upon arrival at the park, you’ll embark on a full-day game drive, exploring the diverse landscapes and wildlife that Tarangire has to offer.
- Wildlife Encounters: Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds, as well as a variety of other wildlife including lions, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species.
- Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the wilderness of Tarangire, providing an opportunity to rest and soak in the natural surroundings.
- Accommodation: You’ll spend the night at a lodge near Tarangire, immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the African bush.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park
- Departure to Serengeti: After breakfast, you’ll depart for Serengeti National Park, a journey that takes approximately 6-7 hours, depending on road conditions.
- Scenic Drive: En route to Serengeti, you’ll pass through stunning landscapes, including the vast plains of the Great Rift Valley and traditional Maasai villages.
- Game Drive: Upon entering Serengeti, you’ll begin a game drive, searching for the park’s resident wildlife such as lions, cheetahs, elephants, and wildebeests.
- Accommodation: You’ll spend the night at a lodge or campsite within Serengeti, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the African wilderness.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
- Full Day in Serengeti: Today is dedicated to exploring the vast Serengeti ecosystem, renowned for its spectacular wildlife sightings and stunning landscapes.
- Morning Game Drive: Start the day with an early morning game drive, when wildlife is most active, providing opportunities to witness predators on the hunt and herbivores grazing in the plains.
- Great Migration (Seasonal): Depending on the time of year, you may have the chance to witness the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeests and zebras traverse the Serengeti in search of fresh grazing grounds.
- Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to your lodge for a midday break.
- Afternoon Game Drive: Continue your wildlife encounters with an afternoon game drive, exploring different areas of the Serengeti and searching for elusive species.
- Accommodation: Spend another night at your lodge in Serengeti, relishing the sights and sounds of the African wilderness under the starry sky.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
- Departure to Ngorongoro: After breakfast, you’ll depart from Serengeti and journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
- Olduvai Gorge (Optional): En route, you may have the option to stop at Olduvai Gorge, a significant archaeological site where early human fossils were discovered.
- Descend into the Crater: Upon reaching the Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll descend into the caldera for a full-day game drive, one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five.
- Wildlife Viewing: Encounter a high concentration of wildlife within the crater, including lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, and hippos, against the backdrop of the crater walls.
- Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the stunning scenery of the crater floor.
- Return to Arusha: In the afternoon, ascend from the crater and begin your journey back to Arusha.
- Airport Transfer: Arrive in Arusha in the evening, where you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey or to your accommodation if you’re extending your stay in Tanzania.
